Arts for Wellness

The creative arts can contribute to whole person wellness by providing opportunities to learn new skills, try new experiences, discover hidden strengths, stimulate the senses, meet new people, and have fun. artworks’ wellness offerings include workshops that use a variety of art materials — ceramics, fused glass, fiber arts, bookmaking, writing, printmaking, drawing, painting, sculpture, origami, and mixed media, as well as lectures, small group discussions, and facilitated open studio sessions. Open studio sessions are free. Workshops may include a materials fee.

Arts for Healing

Creativity can express what is sometimes difficult to capture with words. Art therapists, trained at the Master’s level, use counseling techniques as well as the creative arts to facilitate the most meaningful and rewarding experiences possible for each person. Art therapy works well for people interested in self-exploration as well as a range of emotional needs from adjustment and depression to anxiety and grief. Because art therapy makes use of non-verbal expression, it can be particularly powerful for people experiencing memory loss. Individual and group sessions are available for a fee.

Arts for Community

The arts have power to inspire and bring people together. artworks aims to tap into this power to strengthen community ties through outreach, large-scale projects such as group murals, intergenerational programs, art walks, artists-in-residence programs, life-enrichment activities, and exhibits.
