In this comedy drama we meet Sophie (played by Amanda Seyfried) who goes to Verona, Italy with her fiance where she finds a place wherein people write letters to Shakespeare's Juliet that are answered by the "secretaries of Juliet" (these people really do exist in life). When she finds a letter that has been hidden for 50 years, she herself becomes a secretary of Juliet and helps this woman (Vanessa Redgrave) find happiness.
