Amy Stewart, Author talk

Amy Stewart, author of The Tree Collectors

Amy Stewart, local New York Times best selling author, will speak about her most recent book, The Tree Collectors, as the feature event of our Willamette View Reads 2026 program.

The Tree Collectors by Amy Stewart was selected for our second Willamette View Reads event. It was chosen because most everyone likes trees, and this book tells about some fascinating people who have a special relationship with them.  Collect WHAT? Collect TREES? Who would do that? It turns out that lots of people do. It’s not like collecting stamps or tea cups.

Join us on November 3rd for an evening with Amy Stewart. She says, “Our relationship with trees is a little different from our relationship with other plants…. trees are so much older and bigger than we are. They live beyond our lifespan and we don’t see many live things that are that big.” She says of her book, “ I wanted this to be global, and I didn’t want there to be anyone on the planet who couldn’t relate to it.”

Author Amy Stewart lives in Portland and The Tree Collectors is her 14th book. She has written several nature related books and a mystery series featuring the Kopp sisters. She is not only an author, but is also an artist and this book contains her charming illustrations. A sought after speaker, Stewart has recently spoken at The Royal Botanic Garden in London, The Royal Horticultural Society in Surrey, England, The American Museum of Natural History, The New York Botanical Garden, and the University of Minnesota horticultural series.
