When a nice old man (Edmund Gwenn) who claims to be Santa Claus is institutionalized as insane, a young lawyer (John Payne) decides to defend him by arguing in court that he is the real thing. An executive of the department store (Maureen O'Hara) that hired the old man to act as Santa Claus is doubtful and so is her 6 year old daughter (Natalie Wood). Gwenn won both the Oscar and Golden Globe as the Best Supporting Actor. Captions
