Event info

During the 1930s Depression, a young Texas woman (Sally Fields) finds herself alone and destitute with her two children on a farm after her Sheriff husband dies. She is helped by a wandering black man (Danny Glover) who teaches her to plant cotton and her blind boarder (John Malkovich). Malkovich was nominated as the best supporting actor. Sally Fields won both an Oscar and a Golden Globe Award as best actress.
