Duncan (Liam James) is an awkward 14-year-old boy dragged along on a summer vacation with his mother (Toni Collette) and her overbearing new boyfriend (Steve Carell). Feeling out of place, the boy gets a job at a water park and finds a father figure in the wisecracking park manager Owen (San Rockwell). This finely tuned script, and an abundance of charm, show that simple acts of kindness and friendship go a long way. Nat Faxon and Jim Rash direct, with Allison Janney in a supporting role.
