Sisterly Classical Concert

Koharu and Haruka: Sisterly Classical Concert with piano accompaniment
Program composers: Bach, Vivaldie, and others.

Koharu Sakiyama:  She is a violinist and recent graduate of UC Berkeley, where she performed with the University Baroque Ensemble for over three years as a soloist and chamber musician. She had studied modern violin with Carol Sindell and baroque violin with Carla Moore and Cynthia Black, and has shared music through community outreach with Cal Community Music.

Koharu is also an active composer, having directed UC Berkeley's Undergraduate Composers Club for two years. Her works have been performed by ensemble including the University Baroque Ensemble, Chamber Music Northwest Young Artist Institute, Portland Youth Philhamonic, Metropolitan Youth Symphony, Fear No Music's Young Composers Project, and the 2026 Kakehashi Project. She also enjoys playing Koto.

Haruka Sakiyama: She is a sophomore at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, studying Electrical Engineering. She has played violin for 15 years and French Hornfor 7 years, studying with Clarisse Atcherson, Larry Johnson, and Professor Bernhard Scully.

Haruka is an accomplished performer, winning the brass round and becoming a finalist in the 2026 UIUC Concerto Competition, and receiving honors including the 2024 Oregon Mozart Players Young Soloist Competition finalist, 2024 All Classical Radio Young Artist Ambassador, and multiple OMEA State Champion titles for horn. She has performed with the National Youth Orchestra 2 and was accepted into Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and Has served as principal horn of the Portland Youth Philharmonic. She is also accomplished composer, with works premiered by the Oregon Symphony and youth Orchestra.

Their Mother Miyuki Sakiyama will provide Piano accompaniment.
