Melvin Udall (Jack Nicholson) is a demonic writer of romantic fiction who is delightfully rude to everyone he meets, including his gay neighbor, Simon (Greg Kinnear). Between being obliged to look after Simon's dog and encountering Carol Connelly (Helen Hunt)—the only waitress who will serve him at the local diner—he begins to soften…a bit. Directed by James L.
