Dr. John Bailey, Professor of Silviculture at Oregon State University, will present a talk about trees as part of the Willamette View Reads 2026 series. He will take a broad look at how we make use of trees for all kinds of purposes. To broaden our view, John will take a slightly more scientific perspective.
Dr. Bailey is an Associate Professor in the Department of Forest Engineering, Resources and Management at Oregon State University. A frequent NPR commentator, his forte is making information accessible and relatable. John's background includes working for the USDA and the EPA – on the ground and in the forest – so his research is on practical management of trees we use in the landscape as well as forests we hike in.
Dr Bailey's book, A Walk with Wildland Fire is available in the Manor library (577.3 BAI).
