The film is based on the real-life tragedy of the 2008 terrorist attack at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai, India. Head Chef Hemant Oberoi ( Anupam Kher) and waiter Arjun (Dev Patel) play pivotal roles in protecting over 150 guests including heiress Zahra Kashani (Nazanin Boniadi), her infant son, and his nanny (Tilda Cobham-Hervey) as they fight to survive. Anthony Maras crafts a taut, harrowing, deeply human dramatization.
