When 7 year-old Olive qualifies for the Little Miss Sunshine contest, her dysfunctional but lovable family sets off in a VW camper. Along the way they face many dilemmas, including a problem with Grandpa (played by Alan Arkin who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor). Despite disappointments, the trip reveals their devotion to each other.
