A young woman (Teresa Wright) discovers her visiting uncle (Joseph Cotton) may not be the man he seems to be. As soon as he arrives, Uncle Charlie starts to act suspiciously. Soon two men appear at the house and start to ask questions about him. Turns out Uncle Charlie is a suspect in a nationwide manhunt and murder investigation. The niece tries to get to the truth.
