"The Queen" pits Prime Minister Tony Blair against Queen Elizabeth II (Helen Mirren) over the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. Blair urges the queen to respond to the British public's outpouring of grief. The queen, however, views Dianaâs death as a private matter. Blair sees that if the queen remains aloof in the face of this tragedy, the monarchy itself could be at risk.
