In this comedy-drama we meet Bud Baxter (Jack Lemon who won the Golden Globe and BAFTA as Best Actor), an ambitious office worker who dreams of climbing the corporate ladder by lending his shabby apartment to his colleagues. Things become complicated for him when the woman of his affection, the elevator girl Fran (Shirley MacLaine who won the Golden Globe and BAFTA for Best Actress), happens to be the girlfriend of his boss (Fred MacMurray). Written and directed by Billy Wilder (who won the Oscar and BAFTA for Best Director), the movie also won the Oscar and Golden Globe as Best Picture. Not too shabby.
