Because of a misunderstanding, eight Egyptian musicians wind up in a tiny Israeli desert town overnight. The town has no hotels and no transportation out until the following day. The focus shifts from predictable tensions between "enemies" to a portrayal of human beings with ordinary hopes and disappointments. Not to be missed is the "skating rink scene," a gem of deep, wordless communication. The film won several distinguished awards.
