Henry Fonda (who won the Oscar for Best Actor) is a curmudgeon with a strained relationship with his daughter Chelsea (Jane Fonda). At their summer cottage on Golden Pond, he and his wife (Kathryn Hepburn, who won the Oscar for Best Actress) agree to care for 13 year old Billy, the son of Chelsea's new boyfriend--and a most unexpected relationship blooms.
