Ian McKellan stars as the English iconic detective in this film locating the story following his recent trip to Japan. There he was searching for a medicinal plant he hopes will slow the detereoration of his once impeccable memory. The story hops through three time frames during which he is forced to confront his flaws, while showing how men born in Victorian England try to cope with world changes.
