While his wife and son are at an oceanside resort during the hot New York summer, a professional book reader (Tom Ewell, who won the Golden Globe for Best Actor) spends time with the young actress (Marilyn Monroe) who moves into the apartment upstairs. His overactive, over-vivid imagination goes into overdrive and hilarity ensues.
