Area of Focus
The Recreation Councilor is the liaison between group activities that qualify as "recreation," including various sports and fitness activities on campus, and the Resident Council.
Council Responsibilities
- Attend all Council and Association meetings.
- Serve as a resource in terms of policies and procedures related to Willamette View Administration and the Council.
- Serve as an advocate, and when requested, gain Council approval or support.
- Serve as a facilitator and assist in any leadership and organizational issues that may arise.
- Provide written reports to the Council for the activities under the Councilor position.
- Report to the Council on accomplishments, concerns, or new information within the assigned position.
- Participate fully in Council discussions and decisions on issues of concern and interest to the community.
- Be open to resident feedback.
Specific Position Responsibilities
- Maintain contact with, and awareness of, the status of each activity/committee. This may be through personal conversation, phone or email. It may include attendance at meetings and/or being included on committee contact lists.
- Serve as a resource to the groups as they interact with policies and procedures of the Resident Council and Willamette View administration and employees.
- Ensure each activity has a named leader and designated backups.
- Assist with any leadership or organizational issues that may arise, including appointment of leadership in the absence of a formal committee or manager.
- Serve as a communication link from Committees/Activities to Administration, when appropriate. This may include problem solving and advocacy before the Council for approval of funds or support from staff.
- Promote the work of assigned activities, reporting on them regularly at Council.
- Keep notebook up to date.
