Area of Focus
The Vice Chair is elected to serve for one year, then automatically assumes the role of Council Chair for one additional year. In addition to specific assignments, serves as back up to the Chair.
Council Responsibilities
- Attend all Council and Association meetings.
- Serve as a resource in terms of policies and procedures related to Willamette View Administration and the Council.
- Serve as an advocate, and when requested, gain Council approval or support.
- Serve as a facilitator and assist in any leadership and organizational issues that may arise.
- Report to the Council on accomplishments, concerns, or new information within the assigned position.
- Participate fully in Council discussions and decisions on issues of concern and interest to the community.
- Be open to resident feedback.
Specific Position Responsibilities
- Work with other Officers to develop meeting agendas. Anticipate evolving needs and interests of residents.
- Report to Council as needed on areas of responsibility.
- Preside at any Association or Council meeting when the Chair is absent. Attend Council Officers meetings.
- Serve as Chair of the Resident Stores Committee and as a non-voting member of the Library Committee.
- Write or assign Resident Council column for the Willamette Views publication.
- Organize and coordinate the Association meetings (details regarding this responsibility are provided elsewhere).
- Serve on regular or special committees at the request of the Chair.
- Join the Chair in meeting regularly with senior Administrators.
- Serve on the Willamette View, Inc. Board of Directors and assigned Board Committee
- Work cooperatively with the Chair, sharing information and contacts, assuring that at least one of them is available for contingencies related to Council responsibilities.
- Respond to or assign to another Council member comments and concerns expressed by residents.
