Based on a true story, this film shows a group of Allied prisoners-of-war who are put in an "escape proof" camp during World War ll. The first half of the movie is comedic, as the prisoners mostly outwit their jailers to dig an escape tunnel. The second half is high adventure as they use planes, trains, and boats to get out of occupied Europe. This involves a large cast, starring Steve McQueen, James Garner, Richard Attenborough, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, and David McCollum.
