Asteroid City is a visually-quirky Wes Anderson comedy-drama, mostly presented as a movie version of a play set in a 1950s desert town where a group of young “Junior Stargazers” are brought by their parents for a convention, only to have their plans disrupted by a bizarre extraterrestrial event. The film also veers into a pseudo-documentary about the writing of the play itself. It blends humor, heart, and a touch of the surreal as it explores themes of family, loss, and the search for meaning in a changing world. The ensemble cast includes Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Adrien Brody and Tom Hanks. Cannes Film Festival Palme d’or.
