Area of Focus
The Health Resources Councilor encourages communication and contact between the residents of independent living and the residents of the licensed care areas of campus. The Councilor also serves as liaison to the health-related activities and committees.
Council Responsibilities
- Attend all Council and Association meetings.
- Serve as a resource in terms of policies and procedures related to Willamette View Administration and the Council.
- Serve as an advocate, and when requested, gain Council approval or support.
- Serve as a facilitator and assist in any leadership and organizational issues that may arise.
- Provide written reports to the Council for the activities under the Councilor position.
- Report to the Council on accomplishments, concerns, or new information within the assigned position.
- Participate fully in Council discussions and decisions on issues of concern and interest to the community.
- Be open to resident feedback.
Specific Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison between the Resident Council and the Health Care Services Administrator, the Director of Wellness, and the Life Enrichment Supervisor.
- Attend monthly residential meetings in the Residential Care facilities.
- Maintain contact with, and awareness of, the status of each activity/committee. This may be through personal conversation, phone or email. It may include attendance at meetings and/or being included on committee contact lists.
- Serve as a resource to the groups as they interact with policies and procedures of the Resident Council and Willamette View administration and employees.
- Ensure each activity has a named leader and designated backups.
- Assist with any leadership or organizational issues that may arise, including appointment of leadership in the absence of a formal committee or manager.
- Serve as a communication link from Committees/Activities to Administration, when appropriate. This may include problem solving and advocacy before the Council for approval of funds or support from staff.
- Promote the work of assigned activities, reporting on them regularly at Council.
- Keep notebook up to date.
